Who we are

WedCalc (wedcalc.co.uk) is a free, independent website providing wedding planning tools for UK couples. We are not a limited company; the site is run by an individual based in the United Kingdom. References to "we", "us", or "our" throughout this policy refer to WedCalc.

You can contact us about privacy matters by emailing .

What data we collect and why

Data you provide directly

WedCalc does not require you to create an account or log in. All calculator inputs you enter (guest numbers, budget figures, drink quantities, etc.) are processed entirely within your browser and are never sent to our servers. We do not store any data you type into our tools.

Analytics data (Google Analytics 4)

If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site — for example, which tools are popular, which pages are visited most, and broad geographical spread (country level). This helps us improve the tools and prioritise new features.

GA4 collects information such as pages visited, time on page, browser type, device type, and approximate location (country/region — not precise GPS). This data is associated with a randomly generated client ID stored in a cookie; it is not linked to your name, email address, or any personally identifying information.

GA4 only fires after you give explicit consent. Our cookie banner (provided by TermsFeed) blocks all analytics cookies until you click "Accept". If you decline, or if you do not interact with the banner, no analytics data is sent.

Google Analytics data is processed by Google LLC in accordance with Google's privacy policies. We have enabled IP anonymisation and data minimisation settings within GA4. Data is retained for 14 months (Google's minimum retention period) before automatic deletion.

Server logs

WedCalc is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may log basic request information (IP address, requested URL, browser user agent, timestamp) for security and infrastructure purposes. This is governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy and is not under our control.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies. The table below describes each one. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using the link.

Cookie name Provider Category Purpose Duration
CookieConsent TermsFeed Strictly necessary Stores your cookie consent choice so we do not ask again on every visit. 1 year
_ga Google Analytics Analytics (consent required) Assigns a random client ID to distinguish unique visitors. No personal data is stored in this cookie. 2 years
_ga_3TKV17XZ68 Google Analytics Analytics (consent required) Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4 measurement. 2 years

Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_3TKV17XZ68) are only set if you explicitly accept analytics cookies. If you decline, these cookies are not written to your browser.

Lawful basis for processing

Under UK GDPR we rely on the following lawful bases:

  • Consent — for Google Analytics 4 cookies and the associated analytics data collection. You may withdraw this consent at any time (see your rights below).
  • Legitimate interests — for the strictly necessary CookieConsent cookie, which is required to remember your consent decision and prevent the consent banner appearing on every page load.

Your rights under UK GDPR

As a data subject in the United Kingdom you have the following rights. To exercise any of them, please contact us at . We will respond within one calendar month.

  • Right of access — you can ask us what personal data (if any) we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete personal data we hold. Because our analytics data is not linked to identifiable individuals, fulfilment may be limited; we will always delete what we are able to identify.
  • Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to pause processing of your data while a dispute is resolved.
  • Right to data portability — where we process your data by automated means based on consent or contract, you can request a machine-readable copy.
  • Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal. To withdraw analytics consent, use the panel.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK's supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Data retention

Calculator inputs are never stored — they exist only in your browser's memory while you use the tool and are discarded when you close or navigate away from the page.

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months. After this period Google automatically deletes the data from their servers.

The CookieConsent cookie expires after 1 year and is then deleted from your browser automatically.

Third-party services

We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

We do not sell your data to any third party, and we do not use your data for advertising or profiling purposes.

Children's privacy

WedCalc is intended for adults planning a wedding. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of WedCalc after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
